Text lingo. Ew. The thought of it makes me shudder. Not only does it completely defy all rules of grammar and spelling ever established, it is also nearly impossible to tell exactly what a person is trying to say. What I mean by that is, when you're speaking with someone in person, you have their facial expressions and the tone of their voice to clue you in on whether they're being mean, sarcastic, sweet, etc. Even when you're speaking with someone via phonecall, you still have the tone of their voice to clearly demonstrate what they mean.
So many arguments break out via text because someone misconstrues what the other person is trying to say. There are no cues to help us figure out the exact meaning of the text.
YES!! I hate that, I always try to joke around with people through texting and they think i'm serious..texting is very convient but not really the best way to communicate
RăspundețiȘtergereyep so many arguments get started because of miscommunications during texting. One of my friends and I had a really huge fight because of something she interpreted that I texted. Now when things seem to getting like that we just call instead.
RăspundețiȘtergereI love sarcasm and there is nothing harder than trying to convey sarcasm through a text if the person doesn't get it. Likewise, I've gotten in arguments with friends because of the tone that we've read each other's texts with. It's difficult, especially because I always try to avoid fighting over the phone, and the "language" of texting certainly doesn't help.
RăspundețiȘtergereSo true about the argument thing. Texting makes me overanalyze everything. "What does he mean 'ok cool'? Does he want to see me or not?" I hate texting culture it drives me insane.
